MCPS Certification in Microsoft Windows NT
Certification program aimed at training professionals in the IT field network administration
and maintenance. The six month concentrated study program included the following:
• Installed Microsoft Windows OS. Configured the operating system environment,
created and managed user and group accounts. Managed and secured file systems
and Network resources, configured and controlled boot processes. Set up
Protocols such as TCP/IP, and IPX/SPX.
• Installed and configured Windows NT Server on Intel platform. Used Windows
NT Server utilities to manage domains, assign trusts, implement directory
replication, and hard disk fault tolerance features such as disk mirroring
and striping with parity. Configured IP addressing for TCP/IP using Dynamic
Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). Resolved Host and NetBIOS name issues
using WINS and DNS Server services, as well as Host and LMHOST file table
entries. Installed and configured Gateway Service for NetWare to integrate
NetWare into a Windows NT environment, and migrated Novell NetWare server to
Windows NT server.
• Diagnosed and resolved hardware, software, and operating system issues,
using various tools such as Performance Monitor, Event Viewer, Ping, and
IPCONFIG.
• Installed SQL Server and integrated it within an NT environment. Queried
databases using server administrative tools, conducted backup and restore.
Managed user accounts and permissions, as well as control over remote servers
and log-ins.
• Internet administration using IIS, and Proxy server. Designed and implemented plan to protect Intranet resources from Internet infiltration. Created and installed Web pages.
